"Sedentarism" is one of the modern ‘diseases’ which can have a bad effect on anybody working while sitting on a chair, at a desk, or lying in bed for long periods of time and where they are lacking any physical activity.
Actually, this habit drains the vitality and the energy of the body and makes you the perfect candidate for diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.
A recent study emphasizes another worrying point: being sedentary is not compatible at all with optimal kidney health, leaving them more prone to problems.
Researchers at the Utah Medicine University correlated this toxic habit with chronic kidney diseases after studying the medical profiles of 5,800 adults. American specialists concluded that the kidneys are more likely to develop problems the more sedentary we are. Practically, in numbers, after 80 minutes of resting in a horizontal position, the risk of kidney disease increases by 20%.
One of the basic rules of a healthy lifestyle is to work for 45 minutes and move for 15 minutes. Besides decreasing the obesity risk, our productivity increases due to the circulatory activation.
A plus for health would be to increase your level of exercise by taking the stairs not the elevator, walking to work and getting rid of salty or sweet snacks (biscuits, chips etc.) from your desk, since those mean just calories with zero health benefits.
